M3staken (M3), otherwise known as Stefon Scakley, is a young and ambitious producer making his mark on the music industry with his unique combination of sounds.

Primarily a hip-hop musician, M3 takes influence from artists like Joey Bada$$ and FKA Twigs, yet he mixes these influences with ambient soundscapes and most unusually, classical piano. You might think it’s an odd recipe, thinking of the typical music from both these styles, but M3staken has found a way of fusing the two and believe me, it sounds good.

There are complex beats and original instrumentation, all thrown in for good measure, but most importantly, M3 favours using real recorded pianos in his work, adding a level of authenticity to his work that otherwise may not be found in your standard hip-hop music.

Born and raised in South Carolina, M3 made his new concept album, ‘Apex’, as an attempt to create a unique fusion of classical, hip-hop and electronic styles. He states that “as a primarily hip-hop based artist, it was important for me to emphasise the amount of musicality there is in hip-hop, while also using a mix of classical styles and modern techniques”.
